Is Native American pottery a dying art form? Has it been relegated to roadside sales in the middle of nowhere? When I see pieces such as the one featured in this auction, I can’t imagine why this art would be fading. Especially when I consider the rich history and customs crafted into each authentic piece.
This item is a prayer vase, made by High Elk, a Sioux Indian. Each piece tells a story, and deserves immense appreciation. Before we’re all sucked into the Wal-Mart warp, buying pottery made from molds used thousands of times over, we should first look to pieces with true character.
