I had no idea that Jesse James had a brother, Frank James. The Border Bandits — a History of Jesse and Frank James, by J.W. Buel, gives a detailed account of the James-Younger Gang’s activities. What may seem like a tired telling now, this book actually provides a fresh account as it was written in 1893; just eleven years after Jesse’s death.
Jesse James, one of the most notorious figures of the Wild West, robbed his way back and forth across multiple states with rotating gang members, one of which was his brother Frank who managed to clean up his act a little better than Jesse who didn’t concede until he was shot in the lung.
