1969 Topps Pete Rose Baseball Card #120While writing the previous post about a baseball card collection, I got curious as to what some of my own cards might be worth…not even my Pete Rose is coming up roses. This auction features a 1969 Topps Pete Rose baseball card with a current bid of a measly $6, which means I’d probably have to pay someone to take the rest of my cards.

So to make myself feel a little better, I’m going to boast about the highly debated inventor of baseball, Abner Doubleday, being born in my miss-it-if-you-blink hometown of Ballston Spa, New York. Doubleday is also famous for having fired the first shot in defense of Fort Sumter — take that Pete Rose.
