Boob Art

Female Chest ArtI know art is all about expression, but boob art? Well, I guess this kind of thing is probably considered passe by most Europeans — the country where public access channels provide soft-core porn and the newspapers flash flesh as if they were competing with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.

However, this boob art is actually on a canvas, hinting at some professional aspirations. The “artist” is also considering auctioning “making of” photos. And what about the guy’s version of this type of art, would that be similar to the paintings that trained elephants create?

Straight Edge Still Use Guns

Professional Tattoo KitIt blew my mind when I first learned about the Straight Edge culture. For those of you who don’t know, Straight Edge is a lifestyle with its roots in the hardcore punk subculture. Straight Edge followers abstain from alcohol, smoking and other recreational drug use, which creates quite the juxtaposition from what you might expect from the punk scene. The part that blew my mind was that it sounds pretty Christian and tame, yet these people still know how to party. And even more surprising, a large number of Straight Edge people are inked up more than most people. It just seems like a very cool mix of bad ass and good intentions.

Take a look at this auction for your own professional tattoo kit. But beware, I’ve heard that getting tattoos can get addictive, so make sure you don’t just spend every day tatting yourself up.

I Love You — Take My Ear

Vincent van Gogh Blossoming Almond Tree PrintPoor Vincent van Gogh, utterly misunderstood and under appreciated during his life, celebrated to no end only after his death. This auction is for a reproduction of van Gogh’s “Blossoming Almond Tree.” It’s simply gorgeous. The variations of blue are a stunning departure from his yellow and orange influence of Arles, Holland.

I actually got chills when I saw this post as I’ve seen the original in the Musee d’Orsay in Paris, France. This print is sure to captivate and class up any humble abode. Prove you’ve got some culture and bid hard.

New Angle on Foot in Mouth

Digital Art Erotic Foot and MouthBack in the day, the old saying ”put your foot in your mouth” had a slightly different ring. Nowadays, “put your foot in your mouth” has transformed into ”put your foot in my mouth.” The more we, by which I mean any non-European country, suppress and cast taboo shadows on sex, the more we create in underground rivers. It’s similar to the law of water displacement: An object that sinks displaces an amount of fluid equal to the object’s volume.

Sure, I believe in censorship for younger ages, but maybe we could all use a little loosening up — celebrate a beautiful thing!

Saddest Joker Ever

Joker Heath Ledger PaintingOddly enough, it’s Heath Ledger tragically laughing last in this situation. This auction is for an original acrylic signed painting of Heath Ledger as the Joker in his final role in Batman — the Dark Knight.

This is a stunning, dark and eerie portrayal of the Joker, and speaks a thousand words of the mystery that veils Ledger’s final days. Even if you’re not a Leger or Batman fan, this painting is too spooky to pass up.

A Dying Artform?

Native American Pottery Sioux Prayer VaseIs Native American pottery a dying art form? Has it been relegated to roadside sales in the middle of nowhere? When I see pieces such as the one featured in this auction, I can’t imagine why this art would be fading. Especially when I consider the rich history and customs crafted into each authentic piece.

This item is a prayer vase, made by High Elk, a Sioux Indian. Each piece tells a story, and deserves immense appreciation. Before we’re all sucked into the Wal-Mart warp, buying pottery made from molds used thousands of times over, we should first look to pieces with true character.

Greater Riches than Casinos

Native American PotteryIt seems like all we ever hear about in regards to Native Americans today is hot debate about casino legislation. Why is it that a race once victim to genocide must be talked about with such a slanted view?

Does anyone ever speak of their rich literature and storytelling? No one does pottery like the Native Americans! Why is it that I could only find 10 pieces of Native American pottery listed in the auctions? This particular piece is gorgeous and the bid is low. Try searching for authentic pieces, handmade by an actual tribesman. It’ll be a little more expensive, but if you’re going to make a purchase, why not have some culture behind it?

There’s Nothing Funny About this Joker

Joker-style Mardi Gras maskThis is one bad-ass looking joker-style mask. It was actually hand made in Venice, Italy, justifying the starting bid of $120. It can actually be worn, although something as nice as this probably shouldn’t be worn to your typical Mardi Gras party as it would surely wind up being worn on someone’s derriere by the end of the night.

And do masquerade balls still exist? Not only do they look extravagantly fun in movies, but it’s got to be an absolute hay day for ugly people. When else do they get the chance to dance with hotties?

Keep Time with the Fishes

1921 Chinese Antique ClockCombining a bit of art with practicality is this Chinese clock. It actually looks pretty cool. Clocks are one of those things you’ve got to have, so why not get one that that’s actually nice to look at? It possesses an air of creativity and antique aesthetics.

This is an auction item, which helps explain why the bidding starts at less than a $1, but beware of such inexpensive items — they may not always work, or they’ll make up for the low bid amount by jacking up the shipping costs.

Picasso Original — World’s Biggest Cubist

Picasso Watercolor and Ink on PaperFrom the co-father of cubism, comes an original delightful watercolor and ink piece. Any original from Picasso should be considered a masterpiece at this point. Hell, I’d buy a piece of his garbage for a fair price. That fair price would have to be less than a penny…but all the same.

Now, for this particular painting, I hope for that the auctioneer’s sake that this work is untitled, because they’ve included pages of information about Picasso without including the title of the actual painting. Beware of posts that seem to have simply copied and pasted from Wikipedia without discussing the actual item much. And with any artwork, check to see if the work is signed (not all are, but the value is significantly higher when they are) and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Those are just words of caution though, check it out.
