Prove Your Worth

Large Natural Gold NuggetMost people simply brag about sports cars they own, and yet we never actually seem to see these mythical cars. And a lot of people like to boast of job titles brilliantly embossed on business cards, but where’s the proof? Bid on this auction and you can you carry a representative chunk of your worth right in your pocket.

This is an auction for a 2.5″ x 1.25″ x 1″ natural gold nugget. The auctioneer claims that it’s 22-23 Karat purity, but if I were you, I’d make sure a certificate of authenticity comes with the item.

Put a Grill on Your Grill an’ Be Chill

14K CZ Mouth GrillIce your face baby! Make the masses flock to you by looking like you’re worth thousands — for the price of $8.00. This face grill sports 14K gold plating and the finest CZ’s, making your mouth the next hottest thing on the block.

That’s what I’d write if my job was to sell these things. Gorgeous Italian Cherub Antique Set

Gorgeous Italian Cherub Antique SetAs long as it’s Italian, it’s okay to like cherubs. This set really is pretty magnificent though. It consists of a big bed, two end tables, a dresser and a mirror. After all, the asking price of $16,900 is relatively reasonable for an entire set that dates back to 1890.

Furniture may not be your cup of tea, and usually isn’t very exciting, but when you can combine art with your furniture, then it really becomes a matter of two for the price of one. This set displays incredible, rich detail and design.

John Hancock’s Watch

John Hancock’s WatchThis aint no Herbie Hancock we’re talkin’ about. This is the previous belonging of the first signer of the Declaration of Independence; John Hancock. It may cost 10 big ones for this, but what a rare item! And it’s not just some pebble believed to have been held by someone famous at one time, the watch itself is a gorgeous gold antique.

If you’re a person of politics or government, then this a must-have. An authentic handwritten repair-bill document from the same time is also included in this bid.

An Arm and a Leg, Or a Diamond?

If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, this one had better let you live with her rent-free and happily let you borrow all her clothes.

At 10.52 carats with a VS2 clarity and an excellent polish, this is an incredibly high-quality diamond. For $755,000.00 it should be. Still, with the promise that this is not a conflict diamond, your conscience - if not your credit card - can rest easy and you had better believe that you will get a lot of attention with whatever jewelry this diamond gets turned into. Go on, see what it’s like to be out-shined by a rock.

Start a Tacky Jewelry Store!

5ac6_2.JPGOkay, so the bid is actually for jewelry sold at wholesale, which you would purchase in bulk and then turn around and sell in your own store. It’s just that the jewelry is a little bit…much. Yes bling sells, but this is just getting ridiculous.

At $500,000.00 this jewelry extravaganza is pretty cheap for being full of diamonds and gold…raising those pesky red flags. But hey, there is over $5 million worth of diamonds that are up for bid, so surely you too can set up a table on the corner and hawk your goods to make back your investment.

Is this Blue Topaz Necklace a Rip-Off?

b21.jpg Yes. Now, we here at BiggestAuctions.com aren’t jewel-connoisseurs so perhaps we’re a little judgmental. However, if you can purchase a look-alike piece of jewelry at a thrift store, and save yourself about $10,000,000.00, wouldn’t you do it?

That’s right folks; the sellers want $10,000,001.00 for this 38 carat blue topaz, 14 k gold necklace. That’s a lot of pretty metals and jewels, no denying, but if you have the kind of money these sellers want, why not just go to a jeweler and wear your purchase home with you?

If you prefer the surprise of an online purchase, put your bid in on the auction site.

Excessive Earrings

Rule number 201 in auctioning: If the seller openly admits in the first line that his product is unreasonably priced, do not purchase that product.

This is especially true when tanzanite, typically priced at around $500 per carat, is being sold for $10 million here. For that price, you could hire someone and pay them to visit Tanzania and excavate twice as many gems for you. After all, the Tanzanian government nets about $20 million from its tanzanite exports. Do the math — why would this one set equal half of that price? Because of the glorious chandelier-style settings? I don’t think so.

So Sacred It’s Scary

Okay, I understand that some rare parts of the world may not share the same numeric system, but no matter how it’s translated, people around the world know that a million dollars is a huge amount of money; an amount that most people will never have in a lifetime. So why then is this incense burner selling for $1.2 million?

I understand that this is an auction, and that the inherent competitiveness of auctioning often creates higher selling prices. However, the prices are higher, not incredibly ridiculous. At this price, you should at least expect a bone fragment of Buddha or a piece of his sandal encased in this incense burner! This is a far cry from a holy relic. It doesn’t matter how much of a devout Buddhist you are, unless you have this piece quadruple checked by the world’s best antique assessors, steer clear of this one!
