Pulled over for what?

NEW Motorola Bluetooth Headset Silver H500 for RAZR V3I didn’t believe they were actually enforcing the hands-free cell phone laws on the road, but they are. I just recently observed a cop tailing a car for about a mile, with the driver chatting away, holding his cell phone. That right there provided some justification to the new law, as this guy was completely oblivious to the trooper right behind him. And just the other day, I had to beep my horn at someone for sitting at a green light while they discussed the newest shows on the Cartoon Network.

On the other hand, unless your phone is completely voice activated, or you’re using both hands to hold your phone, I just don’t see how it makes a difference – hands-free or not. But, if you want to avoid a ticket, check out this auction for a decent headset.

Jack or Be Jacked

GSFK Car Alarm LCD Remote Start Security System 2300BMaybe it’s because my cars have all been handed down by my old man, but I’ve never worried about my car getting jacked. Honestly, I’m usually more worried about the inside contents getting stolen, such as all my precious CD’s, which I’m too cheap to back up.

Besides, there only about 34,000 to 50,000 cars jacked annually (Los Angeles alone had 7,187 incidents in 1992). The only reason I’m writing a post about a car alarm system is because, in a past life, I used to be an insurance agent, and know that you can get a recurring discount on your auto insurance for hardwired car alarms. So, jack up your car’s security before you get jacked again by insurance premiums.

Beats a Black Box

New RCA Ant1251 Indoor Amplified 55db TV Antenna HDTVI’ve heard countless stories about the infamous cable black box. I’m not sure if they’re illegal, but I know a good ol’ antenna is legitimate. With today’s cable advertising boasting how you can save tons of money by adding on every additional service (save money by spending more money), it’s about time we’re reminded of the simple economy of an antenna.

I may be what the Dutch call “frugal,” but why not spend $10 - $40 bucks on a one-time charge, and get the basic channels plus a few more for free? After all, one of the best ways to make money, is to save money. Have you ever added up the total expenses of your cable service for a year?

Karaoke Is King

New 2008 Magic Sing Wireless Microphone KaraokeOver the years, Karaoke continues to see revival after revival. As you can tell by the name, Karaoke has Japanese origins, and is rumored to have started mainstreaming in a snack bar in Kobe City, Japan. Aparrently, when the scheduled performer called in sick, the bar owner started playing his mixed tapes, and random patrons started singing along — the rest is history.

Bid on this auction for a chance to win a new 2008 Magic Sing Wireless Karaoke set. And if that doesn’t float your boat, then I highly recommend searching the auctions for Rock Band on XBox — super fun!

Macbook: Light as a Feather

New Macbook Air 1.6Ghz 2GB 80GBThe new Macbook is pretty sick! This notebook is getting rave reviews (but some new technology platforms have been known to need “minor” adjustments after some time in the field). And one look at it and you can see that we’ve made quantum, exponential times exponential leaps since just 10, or even five years ago with our computers. Weighing in under the featherweight division at a whopping three pounds, this little guy actually fits in a manila folder — now that’s what I call a notebook computer!

And that’s just the exterior, Mac has seen amazing results from previous lines and has returned with an amazing product, boasting lightning-quick processing and extremely intuitive, capable programming.

Don’t Burn Your Britches

Notebook CoolerDid you know the growing trend towards referring to laptops as notebooks is not only to indicate slim size and portability, but also to avoid liability for people suffering burns from using their notebook on their lap? Even if you don’t use your notebook on your lap, you should still look into this notebook cooler.

These cooling pads are pretty cheap, and can save you a lot of money. They’re very effective at keeping internal parts from superheating and malfunctioning. Keeping your computer cool also improves its function speed.

Ever Cook Speed?

NEW Dell XPS M1730 LAPTOP 2.8 Ghz X7900 4GB 512 NVIDIAThat’s what it’s like getting down and dirty with this new Dell XPS. The Intel Core Duo 2 Extreme processor provides lightning-quick capabilities. The dual core allows for faster accessing of programs, files and folders, so you get right to the meat of your projects without wading through the usual activation mumbo jumbo. And if you’re big on games, you’re going to love the NVIDIA graphics capabilities.

This puppy is going off at almost $5,000. So if that’s too tall of an order for you, you might want to search auctions for individual computer components. I recently thought I was going to have to replace my entire computer, was about to post it on eBay, but was then able to find a whopping hard drive at an awesome price. The choice is yours.
